Allergies, Sensitivities and Intolerances

Allergies - can be treated with NAET

An allergy is an abnormal, adverse physical reaction of the body to certain substances called allergens. These substances can be toxic or non-toxic and allergy sufferers will react to quantities that are harmless to most people.

The immune system exists to defend the body against bacteria, viruses and any other potentially harmful organisms.  One of the ways it does this is by producing cells called immunoglobulins, also called antibodies. There are five major immunoglobulins: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, and IgM.

Only IgE and T cell reactions are considered true allergies.  IgE reactions typically occur within minutes to maximum an hour after exposure to, or ingestion of, an antigen.

Commonly observed IgE reactions include: hives, itchy, watery eyes and breathing difficulties.

Sensitivities - can be treated with NAET

Sensitivities, sometimes called "non-immune" reactions, tend to have a delayed response, usually a minimum of 3-4 hours. These are most often related to IgG or IgA responses.

A multitude of symptoms can result from this type of reaction such as but not limited to: cramping, nausea, migraines, fatigue, mood swings, etc.

Intolerances - can be treated with NAET

Intolerance refers specifically to the inability to digest certain foods because of a missing enzyme. For example, with lactose intolerance, people are not able to make the enzyme lactase which helps the body digest the lactose in dairy products.

Hidden Allergies - can be identified and treated with NAET

A) A person may know that he/she is reacting to something but can't figure out what it is.

B) A person may have debilitating symptoms that cannot be explained/diagnosed.

Often the cause of A and B are hidden allergies. Today's environment and diet have so many new chemicals and additives that finding a direct cause and effect to symptoms can be difficult.

Some examples:

-Corn alone is made into over 200 edible products and additives.

-Information on labels can be misleading: MSG can be listed as natural flavouring

-Certain combinations may also be the culprit: some people may not react to corn by itself or egg by itself but when egg and corn are combined there can be a reaction.

(corn and egg are used as an example only, any combination of two or more substances can result in a reaction for some people)
